Abstract

Miranda LaValley

My work is a collection of personal experiences—both real and imagined—as well as tributes to the places, people, and stories that shaped who I am today. Since the themes of my art span across time and space, I use a variety of mediums to express them. I’ve had vivid memories of other lives since I was a child, and my art is my way of exploring the complexity and vastness of the human mind. Each piece captures not just a single memory but also the layers of senses and emotions that give those memories meaning. Through my paintings and sculptures, I weave together details like dates, places, and moments, creating a narrative that stretches across thousands of years, told through the lens of my youthful imagination.

My artwork explores many different themes either with myself or how I perceive the stimuli and/or the situations I happen to encounter. My artwork can be based on emotions I am currently experiencing, to music I listen too, and even to a scenery I have witnessed. I would consider my artwork quite versatile and open to everyone’s interpretation. Many pieces I create begin as a swirl of images that dance within my head and come to life with whichever medium I choose to use at that time. These images speak to me and give me guidance throughout my process. However, I make it a habit to not stay fixed, as my art is fluid and changes day by day. Therefore, I am an artist, a creator, a maker, a cultivator, and an imaginer.
