The Arrow She Holds is a branding and identity initiative created to reimagine and reintroduce liturgical dance to contemporary audiences. Grounded in faith-based expression, liturgical dance serves as a powerful outlet for spiritual connection within worship services and community gatherings. Although once widely practiced, participation has declined in recent years. This project seeks to restore its visibility and cultural relevance by crafting a compelling brand experience that resonates with younger generations while remaining rooted in its spiritual foundation.
The project encompasses a comprehensive brand proposal, including a logo, brand guidelines, merchandise, apparel, website design, social media presence, and cohesive messaging. At the heart of the brand is the symbolic “arrow,” representing confidence, purpose, individuality, and spiritual direction. Each dancer embodies the arrow in her own unique way, expressing devotion, beauty, and strength through movement.
Color plays a significant role in communicating the brand’s essence. Gold represents the arrow itself—symbolizing strength, power, and value—while purple reflects beauty and ambition. Together, these elements create an atmosphere where dancers are encouraged to fully embrace the meaning of the arrow they hold. As the visionary behind The Arrow She Holds, I aim to inspire dancers to internalize these qualities, allowing their faith, identity, and artistry to merge into a unified and empowering expression.
Lenora Jordan is the artist behind The Arrow She Holds. A Winston-Salem, NC native, she began creating art at a young age and works primarily in mixed media, acrylic, and drawing. Inspired by dance, Lenora developed The Arrow She Holds as a brand and creative experience for youth and adults interested in liturgical dance and spiritually connected expression.
