Rejuvi:
Rejuvenate (v.) “restore the appearance, powers, or feelings of youth to,” 1807, an irregular formation from re-”again” + Latin juvenis “young” + -ate (to make/do).
This project reimagines the entrance spaces of the Elberson Fine Arts Center on Salem College’s campus. Although the building does not share the same historical timeline as the rest of campus, it supports disciplines with strong cultural and historical value. Currently, the spaces in this area consist of an admin workspace, an office, and outdated restrooms. While the building hosts gallery events and educational classes, the space no longer reflects the needs of today’s students or the evolving campus environment. It needs rejuvenation!
The redesign introduces Rejuvi Retail and Lounge, a concept focused on student wellness, professional development, and community engagement. The Rejuvi Lounge will provide a modern, minimal, and comfortable space where students can rest, recharge, and “take five.” Secured access requiring a Salem College ID will ensure privacy and comfort, benefiting both commuter and residential students. The lounge will feature Salem College colors, a biotropical design, and amenities such as seating for eating and studying, along with MetroNaps Energy Pods.
The former office will be transformed into the Rejuvi Retail, a retail space active during gallery events, offering student internship opportunities. The retail area will sell gallery items, student-created art, Salem College memorabilia, and refreshments, enhancing the overall gallery experience.
